Custom Programming for Lithium Batteries

Morningstar was thinking ahead, building lithium battery features and capabilities into our controllers back when lead-acid was predominant.  TriStar MPPT, ProStar MPPT, SunSaver MPPT, TriStar-PWM, and ProStar Gen3 controllers are extremely well-suited to work with the latest lithium batteries. And our new GenStar MPPT is an industry game-changer, with plug-in ReadyRail technology that lets a user seamlessly add a lithium ReadyBMS block to the controller for two-way communications and control. Learn the dos and don’ts of lithium with the latest tech tip here.

Thanks to Roy Butler, our resident technical specialist for sharing this tech tip!

Changing Lives in a South American Village

A Morningstar SureSine inverter and a TriStar-MPPT-45 charge controller are vital components in a remote, off-grid telecom site in the Amazon jungle, keeping a village connected and online.

Upgrading your critical projects with Morningstar’s new SureSine inverters

Gavin Cannizzaro has been developing software applications since 1993. He is primarily interested in human-centric design and is an avid student of computing history. After about ten years of working on financial applications for DoD, Gavin spent another ten years creating web-based learning and assessment tools for students and teachers, among many other projects. He cares deeply about software longevity and is proud to have built products that have remained in continuous service for decades. In his prior post as an engineering lead at a Baltimore-based digital agency, Gavin delivered state-of-the-art web
solutions for clients including NASA and NOAA, taking a particular interest in knowledge graphs and semantic web technologies. He is a certified AWS developer and has maintained operations across all major platforms. Like many practitioners, Gavin is self-taught, and people are often surprised to learn that his formal education was in the liberal arts. One of his side projects is a Shakespeare web site (
willshake.net). He is also a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who dreams of
one day leading his own band. In the meantime, Morningstar is thrilled to have Gavin as a part of the Morningstar team.
