For the last two years, Morningstar has been providing supplies to transition the power system of Burning Man’s Rampart Emergency Services station to solar. The festival is held in the desert, where high temperatures and dry conditions can send some visitors to the medical tent. It’s important that visitors and medical staff can depend on a reliable and secure power source. Volunteers have set up a 1.8 kW thin-film solar shelter and 3 kW of solar panels with 10.8 kWh lithium battery storage system to provide electricity for lights, refrigeration, air conditioning, and outlets in the station. Morningstar’s charge controllers regulate the power input from the solar panels to deliver optimal output and can operate reliably in the most extreme environments. Morningstar is proud to be working with other solar leaders and the Burning Man festival to successfully bring clean energy to Black Rock City.
